Šime Fantela is the Croatian champion in the Moth class
During the weekend from 5 to 7 November, the first regatta for the Moth class in Croatia was held - the Croatian Open Championship for the Moth class. The organization of the regatta in Split was registered at the instigation of JK Split sailor Luka Dogan, who has been sailing in this class for the last six years, and nine sailors from Poland, Germany, Australia and Croatia gathered in a very short time. Luka Tomori and Miha Truden, two sailors from Slovenia, unfortunately had to cancel their performance at the last minute. The fleet started gathering at the club at the beginning of the week to train and prepare these technically demanding sailboats. The regatta started on Friday, but unfortunately without successful races. As the end of the week approached, sailing conditions became worse, with light winds and rain, so the fleet spent most of its time on land. Saturday, however, allowed three very successful races to take place and the titles to be awarded to the best. The title of Croatian champion was taken by Šime Fantela from JK Sv. Krševan, one of the most successful Croatian sailors and winner of several European, world and Olympic titles. Šime started sailing in this class only recently and it was a pleasure to see this athlete of the format enjoying sailing and learn about this class from other sailors. In addition to sailing fast, he obviously learns fast too! Croatian runner-up is Luka Dogan, fifth overall. The first in the overall standings was Robert Graczyk, who was 21st at this year's World Class Garda Championships. Behind him in the overall standings was Šime Fantela 'new in the class', and the third Maximilian Mäge, 32nd at the 2021 World Championships.
