Biograd Marina Kornati hosts the biggest humanitarian Lions regatta "Sailing Against Drugs"

The largest European humanitarian Lions regatta "Sails Against Drugs" will start this year in Croatia from a new marina, Marina Kornati in Biograd na Moru, but also with a new humanitarian mission. This year's 24th edition, for the first time, will be held in the Zadar archipelago, which will be sailed by as many as 42 crews from 15 countries from Saturday, April 22nd to Tuesday, April 25th. These sailing enthusiasts, and at the same time great humanitarians, whose arrival in Croatia will be an extremely big advertisement for Croatia and the destination itself - Biograd na Moru, will send an image of togetherness and mutual help to those who need us to the world.

This year's Regatta is a sign of the traditional mission of helping in the fight against various types of addiction, but also a new humanitarian goal. Part of the collected funds is intended for the victims of the recent devastating earthquake in Turkey, which killed more than 50 thousand people and left more than 1.2 million people homeless.

In addition to the sports competition, participants from Estonia, Switzerland, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia and other countries can expect numerous other educational and entertaining activities as well as the exchange of experiences and new ideas in the spirit of a common mission.

The traditional humanitarian regatta "Sails Against drugs" of the year has become a real symbol of drug prevention and helping the needy, which in the past 24 years has collected more than two million HRK and financed more than 30 different associations and institutions dealing with the prevention of drug addiction. In addition to its humanitarian significance, the "Sailing Against Drugs" Regatta has been promoting Croatia as a beautiful and interesting tourist destination for several years. It significantly contributes to the visibility of Croatia and the credibility of the work of the Croatian Lions among the Lions of Europe.

With almost 1.5 million volunteers, the Lions are the largest humanitarian organization in the world. Under the slogan "We Serve", which unites Lions around the world, they help the blind and partially sighted, support initiatives to end youth violence, feed the hungry, fight against global epidemics such as diabetes, help areas affected by natural disasters and change life for the better, are committed to meeting needs on a local and global level. In Lions District 126 Croatia, there are about 60 clubs distributed throughout Croatia, whose 1,200 members/volunteers diligently and continuously carry out significant humanitarian actions to help the needy and who are recognized and appreciated in their local communities.
