At the Cannes Yachting Festival, 700 boats and over 600 exhibitors

The 47th and 2024 edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival (CYF 2024) will as usual present a comprehensive spread of European and international boat brands, but key changes have had to be made to the layout of the show due to a three-year programme of modernising the Vieux Port facilities. This will result in more boats being based at Port Canto.

CYF 2024 will be held at the Cannes Vieux Port and Port Canto from September 10-15 between 10am and 6pm. As Europe’s largest on-water boat show, it will offer an anticipated 55,000 or so visitors and almost 700 boats. There will also be a wealth of marine equipment, accessories and services on display, bringing the total number of exhibitors to 600-plus. This year around 120 world premieres are scheduled and we’ll also see a brand-new marina dedicated to power boats up to 13m (43ft).

Festival director Sylvie Ernoult commented ahead of the show: “The Festival build started on 12 August. As has been the case every year, the Cannes Yachting Festival gets the season underway by unveiling an extremely eclectic offer. We will be proud to welcome nearly 700 boats including 120 world premieres and 640 exhibitors. “Our visitors,” she added, “will be able to see the crème de la crème of the marine industry, with the most famous boatbuilders and equipment manufacturers, as well as newcomers to the industry, who all come to present their designs.”

For the 2024 edition there will be 355 new boats of 12m-45m (39ft-148ft), motorboats in water with rigid or semi-rigid mono- or multi-hulls, plus all the equipment manufacturers and service companies related to this industry on one side, and the sailing world on the other side in Port Canto, with 120 new monohull and multihull boats averaging 16m (53ft) long, the brokerage sector with around 45 previously-owned boats from 25m (82ft) long, and the water toys/toys area and the new Power Boat Marina, which will accommodate 175 boats under 13m.

As boatbuilders and equipment manufacturers are slowly but surely setting a course towards ecology and devoting a significant part of their budget to research and development, the increasing amount of eco-efficient innovations in the industry that respect the environment are promoted through the “Innovation Route” route, marked out by special signage for visitors to follow.

Ernoult concludes: “Like all the others, the marine industry cannot avoid environmental challenges, and has understood that it has to evolve to meet the sector’s decarbonisation needs and the new requirements of boaters. It seemed vital to us to make our contribution to the effort by recognising the efforts our exhibitors are making and the energy they are putting into building the future of the nautical sector. Work on composites, recyclable resins, more respectful engines, but also design for aerodynamics or connectivity for better efficiency… there are certainly lots of initiatives! We are happy to showcase them, as our goal for all is to preserve our seas and oceans, especially for future generations.”
