Croatia’s leading marina operator expands

Croatian marina operator ACI Marinas is investing US$15m to expand and upgrade several facilities on the country’s Adriatic coast, according to senior company representatives. Kristijan Pavić, president of the ACI Marinas management board, says the company plans to invest around HRK 35m (US$5.5m) in its 380-berth marina in Dubrovnik to develop its infrastructure and enable the facility to accommodate larger yachts. Currently, the marina can accept yachts of up to 45m (148ft) in length. At the 159-berth marina in Korčula, ACI recently completed a project to modernise the facility’s breakwater, allocating some HRK 25m (US$4m) to the marina, Pavić told local website Tportal.hr.

At the same time, ACI Marinas is determined to spend some €5.5m (US$6.5m) to acquire seaplanes and start transporting customers to the company’s marinas, offering services to 30 locations. The operator has observed a significant demand “by seafarers for seaplane transport,” according to Pavić. ACI Marinas currently operates 22 Croatian marinas. The company is headquartered in Opatija in the northwest of the country.
