Cannes Boat Show decision delayed due to complexity

The supreme appeal court in France which was to have ruled today on the long-running legal battle between the Federation des Industries Nautiques (FIN) and Reed Expo over the ownership and management of the Cannes Festival of Yachting has now announced that due to the complexity of the case it is postponing its decision until the 27th of May.

After four years of legal wrangling and a number of intermediate court rulings, the situation still remains unclear. However, there seems little doubt that the boating industry in France, supported by exhibitors from all over the world, are determined that one way or another the exhibition should go ahead given the clear indication from the market that not to do so would miss the opportunity to capitalise on the strong consumer interest being demonstrated in boating and boat-buying this year.
