WC ILCA 7: Jurišić won bronze, Stipanović finished in 5th place

The ILCA 7 World Class Olympic Championship (formerly Laser) in the Mexican Riviera Narayit ended, where Croatian sailors Filip Jurišić and Tonči Stipanović achieved excellent results. Jurisic won the bronze medal while Stipanovic finished fifth. For Croatian sailing, this is the fifth world medal in Laser, and Jurišić became the third Croatian sailor to win a medal in this Olympic class. Before him, the medals were taken by Stipanović (silver and two bronze) and Mladen Makjanić, who won bronze in 1991 in Porto Carras.

Jurišić was in eighth place until the last day, but then he took two other places in the final races and thus managed to win the podium and his greatest success in his career. Last year he became the European runner-up, and now he has shown that he is a worthy successor to his club colleague from Split's Mornar and two-time silver Olympian Tonči Stipanović.

The new world champion is Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Bernaz who led most of the regattas and climbed to the top podium with 51 negative points, while Filip and Tonči's silver teammate from Sailor Cypriot Pavlos Kontides with 68 negative points.
