The Razjaren crew continued their winning streak in the first CRO Melges 24 Cup regatta of the season

The current European champion in the Melges 24 class – the Razjaren crew continued their winning streak at the Luka Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup regattas with a first place in Biograd at the opening of the new season of the strongest Croatian sailing competition.

The first day of the Biograd regatta, which was held in Marina Kornati and organized by the Briva Sailing Club, was marked by a light westerly wind, in which four races were completed, in which three different crews (Razjaren, Palminanova and Mataran 24) celebrated. With minor changes in the Razjaren crew, the helmsman position was taken by the Croatian sailor from the Olympic class 49er FX Anđela De Micheli Vitturi, but the result was just as impressive.

Two wins and two second places in Saturday's races gave them the lead, and since there was no sailing on Sunday due to calm, Razjaren won the Luki Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup Biograd with a three-point lead over Mataran 24 and a five-point lead over Panjić.

‘We swapped positions on the boat to get out of our comfort zone and progress even more as a crew. It turned out to be a good move because we won the defense of the overall title of the Luki Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup,’ said Ante Ćesić, who was the tactician instead of the helmsman in this regatta.

To keep everything in the Ćesić family, brother Stjepan took care of it, winning first place in the Corinthian division with the Little A crew ahead of Panjić Junior and Blue Label.

‘After winning the Croatian championship title in November on Hvar, we decided to rejuvenate the crew a bit, so Ivan and Andrea Jurić sailed with us in Biograd, who did a great job in their roles,’ said Domagoj Jaklin.

The Biograd regatta was the premiere of the junior category for crews under 24, won by Panjić Junior, whose helmsman was 17-year-old Lucijan Jakovljev.

The second of six Luka Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup regattas is scheduled for next weekend in Zadar (March 15th and 16th) and is organized by the Uskok Sailing Club.
