The local crew Panjić celebrated at the Biograd regatta Melges 24
After the Reichel/Pugh design team designed in 1992 and after serial production started a year later, when over 900 Melges 24 class sailboats were sold, it was time to start the official regattas of this class in Croatia. In the 2021 season, sailing of five regattas is planned, in Biograd, Lovran, Dubrovnik and two in Split. The first regatta and the beginning of Melges 24 - Croatian Sailing Series was held on April 17 and 18 in Biograd na Moru, organized by the Biograd Sailing Club Briva. There were 10 boats, of which 90 percent or nine of them competed under the Croatian flag, while one crew arrived from Ukraine.
Excellent logistical support of the Šangulin Group and JK Briva, performed all work at sea and in terms of acceptance and preparation of sailboats very high quality, quickly and efficiently. The official program of the regatta provided for six races, three each day, and the conditions at sea were such that sailing took place at the same place on both Saturday and Sunday. The only difference was in the strength and stability of the wind. On the first day, the bora blew between 10 and 20 knots, while on the second day, a light bora blew, mostly up to ten knots.
At the end of the regatta, the gold medal and the title of the best were taken by the local crew from Biograd, as well as the organizers of this regatta, on a sailboat with a nice name - Panjić. At the helm was Luka Šangulin, and in the crew: Tomislav Bašić, Tonko Rameša, Duje Fržop and Noa Šangulin. Along with the Panjić crew, the Ukrainians also left the Biograd home with awards as a silver crew, and the crew of the Strilica sailboat as third place.
