Karlo Kuret and Pointone winners of the Opatija CRO Melges 24 Cup

The famous Croatian sailor Karlo Kuret and the PointOne crew (Stjepan Vitaljić, Pave Pleslić, Emil Peloza and Antonio Milišić) are the winners of the Opatija CRO Melges 24 Cup, the third regatta of the strongest Croatian sailing competition this year, hosted by Yacht Club Croatia.

The Kvarner spectacle under sail gathered 27 crews from six countries (Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia and Great Britain) in the ACI marina Opatija, who showed during the weekend why the Melges 24 is one of the most popular one design classes in the world.

Sailing is a sport that depends on the wind, and in football terms it ended 1:1 in the match between Melges and Eola. During Saturday, the regatta committee managed to carry out the planned program, but on Sunday the wind was relentless, so the winner was announced after three completed sailings. The crews of PointOne and Panjić were tied at the top, but due to the victory in the first sailing, Karlo Kuret and his team climbed to the top step of the podium.

"We like sailing in Opatija because the organization in YC Croatia is good, and in Kvarner we are always joined by a large number of foreign sailors. The wind did not listen to us on Sunday, but that is also an integral part of our sport. As a crew, we made the most of the opportunity to win in strong competition,' emphasized Karlo Kuret.
