Gringo 3 celebrated at the 32nd Zadar-Biograd Christmas Regatta
YC Biograd and JK Uskok have been organizing the Christmas regatta together for many years, and a total of 17 sailing boats registered for this year's 32nd regatta, of which only 11 completed both stages. The others either joined the regatta on the second stage or had to give up due to technical problems which were mainly the product of a strong bora that blew on both Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th of December.
13 sailboats started from Zadar, and 12 sailed in Biograd. Only Ruzina used her motor drive to complete this section because in front of Biograd at one point the wind increased to about 35 knots, so they decided to lower the sails to avoid damage. Furiosa reached the finish line in Biograd the fastest, followed by Gringo 3, a cruiser optimized for ORC.
On Sunday at the start, a tramontana was blowing, which was constantly above fifteen knots, but it did not go to the extreme like the bora the day before. There were two more sailboats at the start, but 3 of them did not finish the second stage, and Furiosa was among them. Gringo 3, who was in second place, immediately takes the lead, which he then holds to the end without any threat and with the victory in this stage, secures the overall victory in the regatta. As for the second place, Mr. J won it at this stage and thus returned the favor to the much bigger Easy Eleven for Saturday's defeat in the duel, and according to the sailing rules, he took the second place in the general classification.
