Pearl Yachts fills gap in range with new Pearl 72

Pearl Yachts announced at the Cannes Yachting Festival last week that it is adding a new model, the 22m Pearl 72, to its range which will fill a gap between its Pearl 62 and Pearl 80 models. The UK boatbuilder is also working on a Pearl 120 superyacht. The new flagship Pearl 72 flybridge features two master cabins, two en-suite double guest cabins, and a crew cabin – plus a garage for a large tender and jet ski, features that others models in this size do not have.

Iain Smallridge, Pearl’s managing director, told IBI: “With the growth in dual ownership and the charter market we feel that this new model will be popular globally with its two master en-suite cabins, plus two other guest cabins and the garage. These features will make this new model stand out in this size range. The first model, which has been sold, will be delivered next year.” As usual, Bill Dixon at Dixon Yacht Design produced the exterior and Kelly Hoppen the interiors. The Pearl 72’s sleek profile matches the advancements made in performance, efficiency, and seakeeping through advanced naval architecture. The yacht also marks the debut of Hoppen’s new ‘Indulgence’ interior design scheme.

As to the main deck interior, the entrance to the salon is a via an electrically operated sliding door. The main saloon is laid out as a lounge, with designer sofas along the port side and eye-catching furniture starboard, with an abundance of storage. Forward there is the three-stool bar, which blends the open galley with the social area. Hoppen commented: “We approached the design of this yacht as I would when creating couture interiors for private residence whilst taking inspiration from New York urban living. We maximised each space and defined them with subtle fusion cleans lines and neutral tones, which is balanced with warm and rich textures, taking our creations for Pearl Yacht to the next level.”

The Pearl 72 offers two engine options with the standard 1400hp MAN V12s or the optional MTUs with 1600hp. The latter engine carries her up to 32kt, with a cruising speed of 25kt for a range of approximately 250Nm. As with all Pearl Yachts, the Pearl 72 comes with a unique and comprehensive five-year warranty, three years longer than most other new boat warranties.
