Italian Rio Yachts to start making RIBs
With over 60 years’ experience in the manufacture of day cruisers, weekenders and sports motoryachts, Italian boatbuilder Rio Yachts announced on YouTube it is launching the Inagua and Exuma lines – a new range of maxi RIBs.
Named after the island of the Bahamas, the Inagua line has models from 11m-18m, with the first model, Inagua S, scheduled to debut at the autumn shows in Cannes and Genoa. Like the rest of the line, it takes inspiration from the recent Rio Daytona models, Rio Yachts’ hard top open boats. At 10.86m-long with a beam of 3.7m, the Inagua S will be powered with a 300hp outboard for an expected top speed of about 50kt and is capable of taking 10 people.
“I didn’t want a ‘wurstel effect’ as you generally see on most inflatable boats, I liked that the design was clean and linear, without unnecessary frills, in line with how all the rest of the dinghy was set up,” explains Marino Alfani, the designer who traced the lines of the recent Rio range.
A new plant is being built on Lake Iseo in Italy to build the boats.
