De Antonio launches new hybrid model with Cupra
De Antonio Yachts has introduced, in collaboration with Cupra, its first hybrid model – the new D28 Formentor e-HYBRID witch features a new look graphene grey finish and integrates two 15kw retractable electric motors in the powertrain developed by BlueNav. Together with the 400hp Mercury concealed outboard, it offers a hybrid system that allows the boat to run in both combustion and fully electric mode. In electric navigation D28 Formentor e-HYBRID generates zero emissions, so it does not pollute the water and emits almost no acoustic emissions. The bank of up to six batteries gives it a range in electric mode of up to 12 miles, with about two hours of sailing at a cruising speed of 6 knots and a top speed of 8 knots. This combination of electric motors and central outboard motor allows the user to perform emission-free navigation in areas close to the coast, port entrances and exits as well as sensitive and protected areas, without giving up the performance and safety provided by the 400hp gasoline outboard motor for navigation in open sea, adverse conditions and long distances- they have a combined range of almost 200 miles.
The Spanish boatbuilder began its collaboration with Cupra, the new high performance spin-off brand from Seat, in May last year, with the creation of the CUPRA Formentor, based on the boatbuilder’s D28 Formentor model. Antonio Labate, Global Director of Strategy, Business Development and Operations at the automotive company, appreciates that “Cupra is more than a car brand and with the extended collaboration with De Antonio Yachts we are taking the next step, delivering an electrified version of the D28 Formentor”. For their part Marc de Antonio and Stanislas Chmielewski, CEOs and Co-Founders of De Antonio Yachts, respectively point out that “the launch of the hybrid model of the D28 Formentor adds another success in our collaboration with CUPRA and marks a new milestone in our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.”They add: “It’s a very special year for us in which we celebrate a decade of our foundation, we are very pleased with this new step, it is the first time that recreational boat users will be able to opt for an electric boat without giving up the comfort and performance of a really equipped boat that allows them to enjoy the sea with all the comforts and safety.”
De Antonio Yachts was founded in 2012 by Marc de Antonio and Stan Chmielewski, and quickly made a name for itself with its innovative concealed outboard engine concept. The range currently comprises 8 models in 4 lengths.
