Cranchi globally premieres A46 Luxury Tender virtually
Cranchi, the 150-year-old Italian yacht and boat builder, held the virtual global premiere of its new A46 Luxury Tender on Monday, the flagship of its tender range. Other models in the series include its smaller sisters, the E26 Classic and E26 Rider. During the premiere it was suggested that other models in this series will be launched, both larger and smaller.
The A46 has made some appearances previous to Monday’s premiere and to date at least 10 orders have been received. The new-build order book extends into next season. The A46 Luxury Tender falls into the maxi tender range and was designed by Christian Grande who now has a strong and consistent collaboration with Cranchi. Close collaboration on the project also involved the Italian arm of the Volvo Penta Group, as the VP IPS 650 top-of-the-range system is used to power the new model. The A46 with its flexibility of onboard equipment and facilities can serve equally well as a day cruiser or express cruiser. It has a distinctive hull shape that both supports high performance and maximises the interior space onboard. With the freedom of a full, safe walk-around capability, the A46 includes a large cabin space which can be transformed into a large guest cabin with two extra singles or combined as a double with the two areas served by a centrally located bathroom and separate shower room.
The exterior offers spacious sunbathing and relaxing areas both on the forward and aft sundecks with a mix of sunbeds, seats and tables. The aft deck features two folding hydraulic bulwarks which, when down, significantly increase the size of the sundeck area. The swim platform can also be raised to provide a level floor extending across the aft sundeck. In the centre of the A46, a carbon fibre T-top roof including a number of opening and closing slats, provides protection over the pilot station, the kitchen and the dining area which can seat up to 10 people. The pilot station has three state-of–the-art automobile seats which allow for easy handling of the craft.
The cooperation between Cranchi and Volvo Penta Italy allowed use of the IPS 650 system which is the smallest twin engine set available. This allows for a compact engine-room, providing more guest space across the craft. The A46 has a top speed of around 45kt and a cruising speed of 25-26kt which gives a range of some 200Nm.
As part of the design Grande has ensured that there is a wide range of colours available including 13 different ones for the hull and others for the onboard sofa, sunbeds, seats and cushions. Despite the smallish boat size, owners have wide scope to customise.
Ample storage both fore and aft is included such as the garage space for a tender up to 2m long. Apart from the tender garage there is space around the aft cockpit for the fenders and other equipment to be stored. Both in the kitchen area and forward there are fridges and wine coolers.
